Does TRIMAXION have insurance?
Yes, we have all the insurance that we are legally required to carry. The terms and
conditions of our Bill of Lading (and/or Warehouse Receipt) contractually limit our
liability for your shipment to $0.60 per pound based on the actual weight of the
items. If you want insurance coverage for the full value of your shipment you must
purchase insurance.
Isn’t $0.60 per pound liability too low?
This limit of liability is standard in the transportation and storage business. Most of
our customers maintain their own “wall-to-wall” insurance coverage of their artwork,
which is in force at all times, even while their artwork is in the care, custody and
control of TRIMAXION or another transportation company. Customers who maintain
“wall-to-wall” insurance coverage can avoid purchasing additional insurance from us.
This is a cost effective alternative for customers who routinely ship artwork or store
artwork at a contractor’s warehouse.
What does the insurance cover?
If an TRIMAXION employee is able to inspect the artwork and determine that it is
adequately packed, then the coverage is for all risks excluding wear, tear, gradual
deterioration, moth, insect, vermin, inherent vice or nature of subject matter
insured.
Can TRIMAXION provide insurance while another shipper is handling the artwork?
No. We only offer insurance coverage while the artwork is in the care, custody and
control of TRIMAXION.
